A new Version (1.0.1) of our Eclipse plugin Microclipse is available for download.
With Microclipse you can send microblogging messages to Twitter or any Laconi.ca instance (including Identi.ca) directly from your Eclipse-RCP-based application.
Change log:
- You only need to enter Twitter or Laconi.ca credentials not both
- PreferencePane checks wheter you entered a tag with at least 3 characters
Please give us feedback on the new version of the plugin.

Hi,
First of all, thanks for such a wonderful plugin.
I tried using the plugin on eclipse, but get the error
Unable to create view: Plug-in “de.upb.microclipse” was unable to instantiate class “de.upb.microclipse.views.MicroclipseView”.
I tried both 1.0 and 1.0.1 version, but no luck.
Can you please help me on this ?
Thanks,
Gaurav

@gaurav Hi gaurav, thanks for your interest in our plugin! Unfortunately some users reported the error you described before. For fixing this issue please open your Eclipse and go to “Preferences”->”Microclipse Preferences” and enter your username and password, either for a twitter account or any laconica instance you would like to connect to. Please have a look at the server settings, too. Then a restart of the plugin (close the view and re-open it) with the new preferences should work fine. We would be glad if you provide a feedback if this “solution” works for you.
Regards,
Chris
Btw: I’ll try to fix this in the next version.

@Christian Mletzko
Hi Chris,
Unfortunately the above solution did not work for me.
When I go to “Preferences”->”Microclipse Preferences”, I recieve an error message as
Unable to create the selected preference page.
Reason:
Plug-in “de.upb.microclipse” was unable to instantiate class “de.upb.microclipse.views.MicroclipseView”.
and when I click Ok, I get
An error has occurred when creating this preference page. on Microclipse Preferences.
Thanks,
Gaurav

Hey Gaurav, maybe it helps if you update your Eclipse version to something more recent. Maybe Eclipse 3.5 helps.

@Wolfgang Reinhardt
Hi Wolle, thanks! it shows up on eclipse 3.5.
Now, I see that not all the messages show up for the “monitored tag” (i monitored #php on laconi.ca).
Do you know about this ?
Also, I am unable to update the status from the plugin.
I tried sending plain messages and tagged messages (#php testing plugin) but update does’nt seem to work.
Please suggest as I love this plugin and badly want to use it!
Thanks,
Gaurav
